1960 250SGS

Post by Bob young » Fri Sep 04, 2020 4:31 pm

Hi., im Bob and new to this forum, I have started restoring a 250 SGS and struggling to find parts. Motorwest don't seem to be answering calls or emails, is there anywhere else. Im desperate for front fork seals and felt rings, also rear damper seals, does anyone have any spares.
I haven't started pulling the engine apart yet but guess I will need at least pistons and bearings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Bob

Matt is sometimes slow to reply. Give him a little time. I have also been hearing that orders from Europe are getting stuck in customs due to covid.

Thanks to you guys for your help so far, I am trying to find out the correct paint colour for my 1960 250sgs, there is very little paint left on the bike but it appears to be a dark red. Any help would be appreciated.

I think around that time there painting them dark red but I have never seen any pint codes for Puch colors.

Hi Bob. My similar bike is red too. When I painted it, I found an area of paintwork that was protected from fading and sent it away for a paint match. At the time, I worked in the motor trade and I don't know if this service is still available because I have retired. I should still have a bit of paint left if I could find it.
They are great little bikes. I went for a ride in the week. On the road out of Ottery St Mary, there is a steep hill called Chineway. She climbed the hill in 3rd gear. Not bad for a 250cc from 1960.
