Handlebar Rubber?

Post by Dr. Frankenstein » Wed Sep 04, 2019 7:05 am

Does anybody have a source for the handlebar rubber for a Puch 250 SGS? It goes under the handlebars in the center and ostensibly cushions the handlebars, but mine is wearing out and despite my best efforts at keeping the handlebar clamp tight, they keep drooping down until it seems like I have a set of Clubmans on there.

I'm looking for Part Number 270.1.30.003.1, Clamp, Rubber - I tried wrapping some old innertubing around the handlebars, but that didn't work; it got worse, in fact. Has anybody replaced theirs, and with what to keep the handlebars upright?

I used a handlebar grip on mine.I also modyfied the top yoke adding a small locator peg.
Then after some messing about found the right place to drill a small hole in the bars .worked a treat

I got a self adhesive rubber sheet from McMaster Carr. If my shop wasn't packed up right now because of the move I would send you some.

I thought I had it licked today after I cranked down the bolts when I took the 250 SGS out for a short ride amongst the leaves here in Virginia on this beautiful fall day, but I was mistaken. Send me/post the specs on that adhesive rubber sheet, if you don't mind. Is McMaster-Carr on line only? They don't have one here in Virginia, as far as I can see...
